Discover HASS (Issue 1 - Aug 2012)

Reaching Out

As HASS grows, reaching out to different stakeholders will become even more important.

WKWSCI probably has the most experience in this regard, with a strong alumni network and deep engagement with employers.  Similar effort is taking place at HSS and ADM.  At the College, we have collaborated with several corporations and government agencies to offer scholarship, internship and career opportunities to our students.  These include IDA Singapore (Infocomm Development Authority), Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, and National Heritage Board.

In the area of student outreach activities, besides playing an active role in university-wide events like LIFE@NTU, dialogues with top students, and Let's Talk NTU, HASS has since last month been going to different junior colleges to share about our programmes and offerings.

Sixth President of the Republic of Singapore, May 2012

On the international front, the College has concluded several student and/or faculty exchange agreements with new partners such as Waseda University, University of Toronto, School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), Glasgow University, Bryn Mawr College, just to name a few.

The College has also been building effort in attracting donations to support our programmes. We are still quite new at this, but so far we have managed to raise more than S$200,000 from various organisations, including Hong Leong Foundation, Lee Foundation, Keppel Corporation, Dou Yee Enterprises, and others. I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to our donors who share our aspirations in education and research!
