|The inaugural CoHASS Day (short for College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences) debuted amidst much fun and laughter on 26 January 2017. The CoHASS Day celebrates the collegiality and diversity of the College’s student body. |
Student leaders from the Art, Design and Media (ADM) Club, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Club and the Communication and Information (CI) Club got together for the first time to organise an event for the entire HASS student community.
Professor Alan Chan, Dean of HASS, opened the event by commending the students for their hard work, and more importantly, for conceptualising the idea of a CoHASS Day that seeks to break down boundaries between HASS schools. Professor Chan said he was confident that CoHASS Day would become a staple feature in HASS calendar in years to come.
The evening continued as HASS student band group charmed the audience with its numerous pieces. Students basked in the company of friends, nice food and good fun. Besides the performances, students from the School of Art, Design and Media and the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information dedicated a corner to showcase their creative works in the form of photographs and other artistic expressions.
The event that was held in the College foyer was well attended by students, faculty members and staff, even though the Lunar New Year was only two days away. Some staff members brought along their children too!
In the students’ own words, CoHASS Day is a “night of performances, exhibitions, food and good company in celebrating the best of HASS.”
