The inaugural Lianhe Zaobao Literary Festival was successfully held in May this year, where authors from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia participated in a series of literary activities. Assoc Prof Quah Sy Ren from NTU Chinese programme hosted a talk featuring three local writers, where they spoke about how writers could break stereotypes of Singapore and discover stories of ordinary citizens. The Festival is organised in conjunction with Lianhe Zaobao’s 95th anniversary and is supported by the NTU Chinese programme. NTU reps on the organising committee include Assoc Prof Quah, Yow Cheun Hoe, Head of Chinese, and Huang Shi Lun (transliteration), who is in charge of Chinese creative writing projects at NTU Chinese.
