International Summer School in China

International Summer School 2014

The third run of the International Summer School in China came to a successful close on 3 August 2014, in the city of Tianjin, China. Students from NTU (Singapore), Australian National University (Australia), Bryn Mawr College (USA), Stockholm University (Sweden), University of Leeds (UK), Nankai University and Tianjin University (last two China) truly enjoyed the experience. For their fieldwork, the students went to Qufu, the birthplace of Confucius in Shandong province this year. Strong friendships were forged and many went home learning a lot more about China than they would have from books alone.

The NTU International Summer School is in its third run this year.

The Programme is open to all NTU students in your second or third year, especially those with an interest in Asian studies and China. This is a five-week summer programme, including a one-week study tour, for selected students from NTU, Chinese partner universities, and international partner universities.

Students will take two credit-bearing courses. Three interdisciplinary courses will be offered, exploring concepts and perspectives in Great Ideas, Sustainability Leadership and Societies in Comparative Perspective. The courses will be taught jointly by NTU faculty and faculty from partner universities.

Additional enrichment courses in Chinese culture will be made available to interested students.

The programme fee of S$3,500 includes course instruction, accommodation, orientation programme, and field trips. You can also elect to attend optional cultural programmes. The College is granting a limited number of scholarships of S$3,500 to cover students' tuition fees, study tour and accommodation. It is not payable in cash and covers neither transportation nor living expenses.

For more information, please download the brochure. Programme places and scholarships are made on a competitive basis to applicants. Do apply early to avoid disappointment.

For NTU students, please refer to the email sent to you by HASS's Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education), dated 14 February 2014, for the online application link. Closing date is on 14 March 2014.

For international students from partner universities, please contact the respective International Programme Offices (or its equivalent) of your schools.
