Galina Mihaleva wins the top design prize in Tiffany's Fashion Week Paris 2016


Assistant Professor Galina Mihaleva from NTU School of Art, Design and Media wins the top design prize in the Tiffany's Fashion Week, Paris, 2016. The event was held at the Shangri-la Eiffel Tower Palace on 2 October 2016.

The Tiffany’s Fashion Week Paris, introduced by Tiffany McCall Couture in 2012, seeks to provide a platform and voice for both aspiring and established designers and artists from around the world to showcase their works in Paris. This year, more than 10 international designers from around the world from Singapore, Chile, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Romania, Peru, England, France and the USA participated in the competition.

Assistant Professor Galina Mihaleva joined NTU School of Art, Design and Media in 2015. She studied costume design at Arizona State University and the Arts School in Sofia with a Masters of Art degree specialising in fashion and textiles. Her interest in fashion lies in exploring the extent to which one experiences fashion and connects with his/her clothing. Her art has been shown in festivals, galleries and museums across United States, Asia, Central and South America and Europe. In 2007 she was nominated for the best design award at Cooper- Hewitt Design Museum.

Her current projects include finding new applications for wearable technology, and providing a narrative of Singapore history through clothing and textiles. She also designs dresses and accessories under her own label.
