It has been more than a decade since the European Union (EU) published its very first European Security Strategy. As the EU High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ms Frederica Mogherini said, “the world has changed dramatically”, and so has the EU. She has been tasked by the EU’s Heads of State and Government to prepare a new EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy to guide the EU’s global actions in the future.
In the preparation of this EU Global Strategy to be presented to the EU leaders by June 2016, many policy experts and analysts have been consulted and asked for their opinion. Dr Yeo Lay Hwee, Director of the EU Centre in Singapore has recently been asked to write a short opinion piece on what the EU should be mindful of in crafting its new Global Strategy. Her opinion piece can be accessed here on the EUISS website.
