The inaugural AESCON jointly organized by the EU Joint Research Centre, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and Center for China and Globalisation was held online over four days from 22-25 September 2020.

This scientific conference on Asia-Europe sustainable connectivity brought together researchers, data and policy analysts to examine the global challenges associated to connectivity with a particular focus on the connections between Asia and Europe.

Dr Yeo Lay Hwee, Director of the EU Centre participated in the opening panel discussion on “Asia-Europe Connectivity: A Way Forward”, and the Scientific Session on “Impact of Covid-19 on ASEM’s Connectivity Agenda”.

Her presentations in both the panel discussion and the scientific sessions focus on the relevance of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process in the global connectivity agenda and how Asian and European countries can work together to advance the connections between their economies and societies.
