Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at the closing ceremony of the 31st ASEAN Summit, that Singapore as Chair of ASEAN in 2018 will focus on the themes of “resilience and innovation” in order to keep ASEAN as a central and relevant force in the region. He also reiterated the importance of building relations with external partners. The European Union (EU) has been a dialogue partner of ASEAN for 40 years and has been a keen supporter of ASEAN’s regional integration efforts. The EU also aspires to strengthen its relations with ASEAN and to work in partnership to deal with the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. As we celebrate 40 years of this longstanding partnership, we are also looking forward to the years ahead. Come and join us on 6th December (Wednesday) at 3 pm for a panel discussion on EU-ASEAN Partnership: 40 Years and More. The panel discussion to be held at the Orchard Hotel (Ballroom 2), will feature Singapore’s foremost diplomat, Ambassador Tommy Koh; Head of the EU Delegation to Singapore, Ambassador Barbara Plinkert and Ambassador Antonio A. Morales, Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines.
