The July 2018 issue of the quarterly newsletter, Scene@CMM is out. The highlight of this issue features the 2 weeks Summer Programme in Brussels and Jakarta. We have a total of 27 participants from various Southeast Asian and European universities joining us at the 2018 Summer Programme. The Summer Programme, commencing in less than a week time, will hopefully be an enriching and rewarding experience for all the participants.

Summer Programme 2018

The EU Centre together with its partners in the Jean Monnet Network on Challenges to Multiculturalism and Multilateralism (JMN-CMM: http://bit.ly/eucentresg-jmncmm) are organising a 2-week Summer Programme in Brussels and Jakarta from 15 July to 28 July 2018. Upcoming Events

 

After the Summer Programme, the EU Centre will be organising two other events in August. First, we have a panel discussion and book launch on EU Security Strategies on 1 August, followed by, a panel discussion on the Future of Trade Governance on 23 August.

Celebrating Inclusivity and Diversity Through Cinema –
European Union Film Festival 2018

As Singapore’s longest running film festival, the 28th edition of the European Union Film Festival consolidated its role as the flagship cultural event of the European Union Delegation to Singapore. Running from May 10 to May 20, the festival returned to the iconic National Gallery Singapore for a second year. The setting reinforced the excellent cultural cooperation between Europe and Singapore. 24 European films were screened primarily at the Gallery, and for the first time included a venue in the heartlands – Our Tampines Hub. Several films ran to full houses and capacity crowds, attracting nearly 5,000 viewers.

Advance your Research Career – Funding & Fellowship Opportunities in Europe

On 21 May 2018, Euraxess ASEAN initiative “Advance your Career- Funding and Fellowship Opportunities in Europe” was held at the Auditorium at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) @ One-North Executive Centre. Supported by both NTU and the EU Centre, this information session aimed to highlight the importance of research mobility and international cooperation for enhancing both European as well as international research.

 
EU-Asia Relations on the Rise
on 8 June 2018

On 8 June (Fri), Mr. Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS), discussed his views on the rise of EU-Asia Relations in today’s global context. The talk, hosted by the EU Delegation to Singapore, was moderated by Ambassador Ong Keng Yong, Executive Deputy Chairman of the S Rajaratnam School of Intenational Studies (RSIS), and former Secretary-General of ASEAN.
