Merkel's speech signals turning point for Europe

In her op-ed in the Straits Times today (31 May) Dr Yeo Lay Hwee, Director of the EU Centre wrote about the winds of change in Europe. While acknowledging that the European Union (EU) continued to face several challenges, she listed a confluence of factors that have led to a shift in mood from gloom to optimism. She added that this return of confidence and belief in itself will be a turning point in the EU’s move towards its future.
