Towards a Dynamic Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM)?
Towards a Dynamic Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM)?
NTU_PageContent
The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), an informal forum for dialogue and developing cooperation between Asia and Europe, was launched in 1996. Into its 17th year and with a membership that has almost doubled from 26 to 51, it faces challenges with regards to its working methods, visibility and ability to deliver tangible benefits of cooperation. Several meetings, the most recent being the ASEM Symposium held in Yangzhou organised by the Chinese government, have been held to discuss how to address these challenges. This paper provides an analysis of the developments and real challenges in creating a dynamic ASEM.
