Why EU promotion is at odds with successful crisis management: Public relations, news coverage, and the Aceh Monitoring Mission

The EU Centre in Singapore has just published its tenth working paper, Why EU promotion is at odds with successful crisis management: Public relations, news coverage, and the Aceh Monitoring Mission, by Stephanie Anderson.

The author looks at the EU’s Common Foreign and  Security Policy and its accompanying Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) missions and argues that they are poor vehicles for EU promotion for a variety of reasons. She uses the example of the Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) as a case study to highlight the difficulties CSDP missions face in raising the international profile of the EU.
